Persistent Organic Pollutants: A Global Issue, A Global Response

You will need the free Adobe Reader to view some of the files on this page. See EPA's PDF page to learn more.

This publication (EPA 160-F-02-001) was created to raise awareness about the health and environmental impacts of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), to show what actions the United States and some other countries have already taken to address these pollutants, and to describe the actions set into motion by the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants to address this issue globally. The booklet explains the importance of the Stockholm Convention, a legally-binding international agreement finalized in 2001. Participating governments agree to take actions to reduce or eliminate the production, use, and/or release of certain of these pollutants.

The brochure is available both in an HTML text-only format and in a Portable Document Format (PDF). The PDF version of the brochure is best viewed and printed using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, Version 5.
