Science Mentoring

Members of the Woods Hole science community had the opportunity to volunteer at the Lawrence School in Falmouth, MA, through the Woods Hole Science and Technology Education Partnership (WHSTEP). Scientists, including Sarah Kelsey and Kate Visser of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)'s Woods Hole Field Center (WHFC), guided 7th- and 8th-grade science students in the early stages of planning their science projects to help them develop their ideas. According to Sarah, the students were quite enthusiastic, although some of them needed a little more coaxing than others. There were many different and interesting project ideas.

Participants had a lot of fun and will return to offer their mentoring services again. If anyone from WHFC would like more information or would like to volunteer, please contact Molly Cornell at mcornell@cape.com.
