README for barscale.aml 9/29/97 PURPOSE: ======== This AML draws a USGS-type barscale at any scale while in an ArcPlot map composition. USAGE: ====== &r barscale {x} {y} {custom} Use an x,y coordinate pair, or enter "#"s to locate the barscale with the mouse. If no arguments are given, the mouse will be used for location. The location point is the center of the topmost scale bar. Anything entered for the {custom} argument, other than no, NO, N or n, will be interpreted as a custom option. For the custom option the user will be prompted to enter the # of divisions, the interval, and the # of subdivisions for each unit (meters, miles and feet). The subdivisions are the smaller intervals on the left part of the scale. You may also select the top-to-bottom order of the individual scale bars. If doing a 'standard' USGS scale (12000, 24000, 25000, 50000, 62500, 63360, 100000), the intervals and divisions are preset unless you specify that you wish to exercise the custom option. Read the notes portion of the AML header. ---------------------------- | Bob Davis | | Phone (573)308-3580 | | Fax (573)308-3652 | | email lrdavis@usgs.gov | ----------------------------
