Greening EPA

In addition to its own environmentally preferable purchasing, EPA is greening its fleet with alternative fuel vehicles which reduce harmful emissions and increase fuel efficiency. The Agency also is the is the first major federal agency to purchase green power equal to 100 percent of its estimated annual electricity use nationwide. Read more about the greening of EPA.

Department of Agriculture (USDA) BioPreferred
The USDA BioPreferred program designates preferred biobased products and provides guidance to vendors and federal purchasers.

Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP)
FEMP designates purchasing specifications for energy-efficient products and services.

ENERGY STARĀ®
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of EPA and the Department of Energy that qualifies and promotes energy efficient products, services and practices.

EPA's Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPG)
Through the CPG, EPA designates products that are or can be made with recovered materials, and recommends practices for buying these products.

EPA's WaterSense
WaterSense identifies and promotes water efficient products and services.

Department of Defense (DOD) EMALL
DOD EMALL provides an internet shop to assist in buying DLA managed items. The DOD EMALL also provides quarterly reports showing all the DOD EMALL orders for products that were marked with an Environmental Attribute Code (ENAC).

CLI is a program developed by EPA and other stakeholders to improve the labeling of household pesticides and cleaning products.

Federal Network for Sustainability
The Federal Network for Sustainability is a voluntary, collaborative network of Federal agencies in the Western U.S. focused on fostering and furthering the concept of sustainability within the government through our individual programs and group initiatives.
