Details on the 2008 Awardees

Performance Track recognizes all members for their outstanding commitment to continuous environmental improvement, but the program provides special recognition to a select few facilities each year in honor of their exemplary achievements in environmental performance, mentoring, and outreach.


Performance Track Environmental Performance Awards

These awards recognize Performance Track members that have demonstrated exemplary environmental performance during their participation in the program. The principal evaluation criteria for this award are progress made toward performance goals and the breadth and challenge level of the member's performance goals. This evaluation is supplemented with consideration of the member's annual performance report quality, compliance history, and community outreach efforts.

Performance Track Director's Award

  • In 2005, 3M Corporation of St. Paul, Minnesota received the Performance Track Director's Award for Outreach at the Corporate Level.
  • In 2004, New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. in Peterborough, New Hampshire received the Performance Track Director's Award for Mentoring.

Performance Track Outreach Award

This award recognizes current Performance Track members who, in addition to being exemplary environmental stewards, make special efforts both internally and externally to inform employees and other organizational groups about the benefits of membership in Performance Track.

Performance Track Appreciation Awards

This award recognizes state media programs that have been outstanding in their support of EPA and Performance Track, particularly in the testing of innovative approaches to achieve better environmental performance and greater public transparency while also striving to become more efficient.

Performance Track and the Wildlife Habitat Council Special Commendations for Excellence in Environmental Performance and Wildlife Habitat Restoration

In 2004, Performance Track and the Wildlife Habitat Council selected the Monsanto Company's facility in Muscatine, Iowa for a special commendation to recognize its outstanding achievements in environmental management and wildlife habitat restoration. The award was presented as part of the WHC 16th Annual Symposium in November 2004.

Joint Performance Track and Wildlife Habitat Council Award for Excellence in Environmental Performance and Wildlife Habitat Restoration

On November 15, 2005, at the Wildlife Habitat Council Symposium in Baltimore, Maryland, Performance Track and the Wildlife Habitat Council presented a joint commendation to Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire’s Oklahoma City Plant and its Warren County Plant. These two exemplary facilities set challenging environmental goals, demonstrated a strong commitment to public outreach, and successfully implemented ambitious habitat restoration and improvement projects.
