Pam Malam, the new Regional Executive for Geospatial Information and the Florida Integrated Science Center (FISC) in the Eastern Region of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), visited the FISC Center for Coastal and Watershed Studies (CCWS) in St. Petersburg, FL, on November 18. Dick received the Meritorious Service Award for his outstanding contributions in the field of paleoclimatology and for his leadership in the USGS component of the interagency U.S. Global Change Research Program. During the all-hands meeting, Pam introduced herself to the CCWS staff and hosted a question-and-answer session. Abby Sallenger gave a presentation on the 2004 hurricane season. Gene Shinn presented Pam with a FISC puzzle in the shape of Florida during lunch on the lawn. In the afternoon, Pam met with several investigators and heard presentations on several major projects, including the Tampa Bay Study, whose project chief is Kim Yates; the National Assessment of Coastal Change Hazards, represented by Robert Morton; and the Coral Mortality and African Dust project, whose project chief is Gene Shinn.
