POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) program for the West Bank and Gaza is an important component of the U.S. Government's pursuit of regional stability and economic prosperity in the Middle East.  Since 1993, USAID has assisted Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza through a wide variety of social and economic development programs.

USAID is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the following position:

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking highly qualified candidates for consideration for the position of a Financial Analyst.  The primary purpose of this position is to perform comprehensive financial analysis providing financial support to the Mission’s Technical Offices covering all program areas. In addition, the incumbent should provide extensive support in designing, reviewing and evaluating the Mission’s Statutory Audit program.  The incumbent conducts financial and operational analysis of various aspects of internal operations and assists in the development and implementation of the Mission’s Audit Management Plan. The work environment is dynamic with a current staff of about 120 people and requires motivated, customer service-oriented individuals.

QUALIFICATONS SOUGHT:

  • A University Degree in accounting, business administration, finance is required.  Professional certification or a Master’s degree in accounting or finance (e.g. CPA, CMA, CA, CFA) is highly desirable.

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in professional accounting, auditing, or financially oriented business management. It is desirable that a portion of this experience be with the US government or a private sector international organization, or accounting/ audit firm experienced in the analysis of development projects and activities. 

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of professional accounting principles, theories, practices and terminology as well as the principles and accepted practices of governmental and business financial accounting, budgeting and reporting is required.

  • Incumbent must have the ability to present analysis and recommendations in clear written and oral formats. Ability to perform in a team spirit and to maintain cordial relationships with USAID, local officials, grantees and contractor personnel.

  • Skilled in the use of computer based analytical programs and data management systems.

  • Level IV (fluency) in English and Arabic is required.  A good working knowledge of Hebrew is desirable.
