"Wetlands and Wonder" Video available
11/4 -- As more Americans dwell in cities and suburbs, our society becomes increasingly distanced from the natural world. The absence of everyday connections to nature has many negative effects -- especially for children. EPA Region 8 has partnered with well-known authors Richard Louv and Robert Michael Pyle, and child advocate Joan Allmon, to produce a 12-minute video on the importance of urban wetlands in maintaining our connection with nature. Lead awareness week

Cleanup complete at Colorado uranium mine and mill
9/29 -- A chapter in the history of the uranium industry in western Colorado closed today when EPA certified the completion of the 20-year cleanup of the Uravan Mill Superfund Site, a former uranium and vanadium mine and processing site along the San Miguel River in Montrose County. EPA proposes U.S. Magnesium facility for Superfund listing
9/3 -- EPA today proposed adding U.S. Magnesium in Tooele County, Utah, to the National Priorities List of Superfund sites. Press release.

Fine particulate nonattainment areas for Utah and Montana
8/19-- EPA has identified several Utah counties and the community of Libby, Montana as areas that do not meet new air quality standards for fine particulate matter (PM 2.5). This is a preliminary step towards the designation of final nonattainment area boundaries and the development of specific plans to reduce PM 2.5 pollution. States now have the opportunity to comment on EPA's proposed boundaries and to provide new information and analyses to EPA. EPA will also provide a 30-day public comment opportunity.
