USAID SUPPORTS WOMEN AND YOUTH TRAINING IN DOURIS

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Lebanon Director, Raouf Youssef, presented a $42,000 check to the Association for the Development of Local Resources (CREADEL) to enhance the organization’s training capabilities. 

CREADEL, located in Douris since 1998, is a non-profit Lebanese non-governmental organization improves the livelihoods of individuals in the Baalbeck-Hermel area.  The organization works with communities, municipalities, cooperatives, women and youth, and provides vocational and skills training.   USAID’s assistance will help the organization procure computers and other equipment to train 100-150 women and youth per year on computer programs, carpet design, civil society, democracy and human rights.

USAID has worked in Lebanon since 1951, funding development projects to benefit Lebanese citizens. With funds from the American people, USAID creates jobs, invests in youth and protects the environment in Lebanon. USAID’s work reflects the strong friendship between the Lebanese and American people.
