Lebanese Students Explore Cedar ForestsSeptember 7, 2007Children from two schools in Barja, part of the 200 public schools being upgraded by the U.S. Government, took a field trip to Lebanon’s famous cedar forests in Barouk and Beit Eddine. In addition to enjoying a day outdoors, they learned about the ecology of the cedar forests and native plants and animals. The outings are part of a program funded by the American people to improve schools and children’s learning experiences throughout Lebanon. As school starts this fall, 70,000 students are entering public schools with upgraded buildings or new materials. CHF International carries out the program on behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development. "Photo of the Week" is a product of U.S. Embassy Beirut to highlight the U.S. Government's development, relief, reconstruction, and humanitarian assistance to Lebanon.
