DES MOINES - On January 17, 2007, Joseph Kim, 51, of Urbandale, entered a plea of guilty to a U.S. Attorney’s Information charging him with four counts of income tax evasion, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. The charges to which Mr. Kim pleaded carry a possible prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of $500,000. Mr. Kim is free on bond pending sentencing.

Kim was charged with under reporting his income for the tax years of 2000 through 2003. Mr. Kim stipulated at his plea that he made substantially more income through his business, Kim’s Tailor, Inc., located at Valley West Mall, then he reported to the IRS on his income tax returns for above four years.
