Plot of thickness vs. distance from vent for several tephras from Cascade Range volcanoes. Values for Mazama, St. Helens Yn, and Glacier Peak G are compacted thicknesses. Blong (1984) estimates that original fall thicknesses may have been twice as great. Values for Mount St. helens 1980 tephra are uncompacted thicknesses. DATA SOURCES- Mazama: Williams (1942), Borchart and others (1971, 1973), Mullineaux (written commun., 1986); Glacier Peak G: Porter (1978), Carrara and others (1986); St. Helens Yn: Mullineaux (written commun., 1986); St. Helens May 18, 1980: Sarna-Wojcicki and others (1981).
