NASHVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH FILING FALSE TAX RETURN

Nashville, Tennessee - February 27, 2003 - James K. Vines, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, announced that an information has been filed against Roderick C. Pounds, Sr., of Nashville, Tennessee. The information charges Pounds with one count of filing a false tax return with the Internal Revenue Service.

According to the information, Pounds filed an IRS Form 1040PC for calendar year 1999 that reported $26,000 in employment income. The information further charges that Pounds received approximately $61,677 in income that year and he filed a tax return that was not correct as to every material matter.

Pounds faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on this charge.

It should be noted that charges brought against a person through an information or indictment are accusations only. That person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
