Water-Quality Data in Hawaii and the Pacific
The U.S. Geological Survey collects and analyzes data on the chemical,
physical, and biological properties of water, sediment, and tissue samples
as part of a variety of projects ranging from national programs to studies
of more local interest. NWISWeb provides
access to USGS surface-water, ground-water, and water-quality data collected
throughout the Nation. Data collected by the USGS in Hawaii and other
Pacific areas also can be requested by using the Hawaii District Data
Request Form.
Because of the interest in ground-water samples collected on the island
of Oahu for specific volatile organic compound concentrations, available
DBCP, DCP, D-D, EDB, and TCP data, are provided here in
a Microsoft Excel 2000 workbook to simplify the data-retrieval process.
Information on wells such as location, altitude, and construction can
be obtained from the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural
Resources, Commission on Water Resource Management at http://www.state.hi.us/dlnr/cwrm/.
Additional information may be obtained from the USGS Hawaii District’s
paper files of individual wells. These files are available for inspection
during our normal office hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through
Friday. If you have any questions about USGS data, or if you would like
to visit our office in Honolulu, please call Jill Nishimura at 808-587-2426
or e-mail at jtorikai@usgs.gov.
