Privacy Policy

Information we collect from SunWise Program participants

When you register to participate in the SunWise Program, we (EPA) save the information you provide in a private database. If you or your students report UV Index or UV intensity measurements to our web site, we store those values in a database. As discussed in our general privacy and security notice, we collect minimal information about your Internet connection and Web browser when you visit our Web site.

How we protect the information

We do not disclose your personal information or share it with anyone outside the SunWise Program, except as required by law.

How we use the information

We use your information to send you SunWise educational materials and to compile demographic summaries of SunWise Program participants.

UV values that you or your students report may be displayed in a table at our web site, by you or anyone who knows your SunWise class ID. The table does not identify the person who reported the UV values, but it does include your school or organization name and location.

In addition, we may:

  • Mention the names of schools and organizations that participate in the SunWise Program (but not the names of participants)
  • Share summarized demographic information with other EPA programs or other government agencies
  • Create a mailing list to notify you of changes in the Program and materials
