Research Project: THE IMPACT OF FIBER PROPERTIES ON COTTON QUALITY

Objective:
Determine the effect of variety, area of growth, and environment on the general properties of the U.S. cotton crop.

Approach:
During any given crop year, collect representative samples from selected classing offices of the USDA-AMS Cotton Program. Carry out specialized laboratory including Suter-Webb array, trace metals, and stickiness for such properties as: moisture, stickiness, array length, surface chemistry. Establish a database to allow for statistical analysis of these results.
