Research Project: DATABASE COMPILATION AND ANALYSIS

Location: Cotton Quality Research

Project Number: 6655-41440-003-04
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Apr 09, 2007
End Date: Dec 31, 2007

Objective:
Improved understanding of the impact on textile process/product quality of several cotton fiber quality issues including: short fiber, neps, excess moisture, stickiness, and general fabric defects.

Approach:
Develop a database containing a comprehensive set of results of the physical properties of raw cotton fiber along with corresponding data for process and product quality. Mine the database to obtain statistically valid causal relationships between a wide range of quality measurements and results for yarn and fabric quality and processing efficiency.
