Location: Crop Genetics and Breeding Research

Project Number: 6602-21000-020-02
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Jan 01, 2007
End Date: Dec 31, 2008

Objective:
The objective of this research is to advance a mapping population of pearl millet by assessing striga-resistant and striga-susceptible pearl millets for genetic polymorphism.

Approach:
Selections from pearl millet variety CIVT and wild accessions PS202, PS637, PS639 and PS727 will be assessed for striga resistance in Sadore, Niger. DNA will be extracted and assessed for polymorphisms by USDA-ARS in Tifton, Georgia.
