USGS Marine Facility Home Page

The USGS Marine Facility is the operational arm of the Western Coastal and Marine Geology Team. The Marine Facility staff provides mechanical and electronics support for marine field operations.

Surplus Items Available to Teachers

The Marine Facility is preparing to move to a new facility in Santa Cruz, CA and so we are "cleaning house" in Redwood City. There are a number of items that we no longer have a use for which are available for donation to schools and educational non-profits.

The Marine Facility has developed software for use in marine navigation and seismic data collection. For more information, contact John Gann. Here is our software:

YoNav

• HTML-based online documentation.
• Manual Range entry for target location.
• Sockets interface for seismic shot control.
• Date/Time rollover fix and support for new NMEA messages.

MudSeis

• Sockets time synchronization.
  MudSeis can now set its clock using the GPS sensor connected via the sockets server.

Other MarFac Software

• LineIndicator
  Simple left/right indicator for following survey lines
• NavMetrics
  Real-time Navigation Parameters Graphically Displayed
