Administration and Operations

Enterprise for the Americas Board

The legislation establishing the EAI also established the Enterprise for the Americas Board (EAB) under section 610(a) of the Agricultural Trade Development and Assistance Act of 1954 (“P.L. 480”), as amended.

Mangroves play an important role in
coastal ecosystems.
The Board is charged with providing advice on the negotiation of EAI — and now also TFCA — agreements and on the establishment of local funds and boards. The Board is composed of eight public sector members and seven private sector members, who serve at the request of the President. Government representatives on the board are the Department of State (Chair), Treasury, Agriculture and the Interior, USAID (vice-chair), Environmental Protection Agency and the President’s Council on Environmental Quality. Private members are appointed by the President.

EAI/TFCA Secretariat

USAID hosts a small EAI/TFCA Secretariat. The Secretariat supports the EAI Board and facilitates the implementation of EAI and TFCA agreements and management of local funds established under the agreement.
