The primary mission of the 27th Special Operations Wing is to plan and execute specialized and contingency operations using advanced aircraft, tactics, and air refueling techniques to infiltrate, exfiltrate, and resupply special operations forces and provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and close air support in support of SOF operations.

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- America Recycles Day is Nov. 15 and is dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and buy recycled products. Since its inception in 1997, the ARD campaign has grown to include millions of Americans pledging to increase their recycling habits at home and work, and to buy products made with recycled materials. Year after year, residents in every state of the nation participate in America Recycles Day events.

Weather squadron releases balloon during training operation

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- From left: 1st. Lt. Lindsey Fennewald, Senior Airman Michael Jackson and Staff Sgt. Sara Klobucar, all from the 353rd Operations Support Squadron Weather Flight, release a helium-filled weather balloon here Oct. 27. A radiosonde attached to the weather balloon measures pressure, temperature and relative humidity as it ascends into the atmosphere; and sends the data back to the MW31 sounding system every one to two seconds. CFC Update
Cannon's 2008 Combined Federal Campaign has now reached 93.5 percent or $46,735 of its goal and 72.5 percent of base personnel have been contacted through Nov. 4. with three weeks remaining in the campaign. 

The CFC is the world's largest and most successful workplace campaign. One of Cannon's goals is to have 100 percent contact of all Cannon personnel.
