Research Project:
STUDY OF RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT AND INJURY POTENTIAL OF LEPIDOPTEROUS PESTS TO TRANSGENIC COTTONS
Location: Southern Insect Management Research Unit
Project Number: 6402-22000-047-37
Project Type:
Specific Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Sep 13, 2006
End Date: Aug 14, 2007
Objective:
This cooperative research project is designed to monitor and evaluate heliothine populations for resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis insecticides. The objective is to monitor >3 populations of Heliothis virescens and >3 populations of Helicoverpa zea from North Carolina for resistance B. thuringiensis toxins expressed in transgenic cottons.
Approach:
Objective 1 - Collect heliothine populations and send them to ARS-Stoneville. These populations will be used in laboratory bioassays developed by the SIMRU for B. thuringiensis-resistance detection.
