Research Project: COTTON FIBER STRUCTURE AS RELATED TO ITS PERFORMANCE AS A TEXTILE MATERIAL

Location: Cotton Structure and Quality Research

Project Number: 6435-44000-069-02
Project Type: Trust

Start Date: Jan 15, 2003
End Date: Jun 30, 2005

Objective:
Develop a fundamental understanding on the correlation between cotton fiber microstructure and cotton fabric performance.

Approach:
1) Obtain cotton cultivars having a wide range of fiber properties. 2) Process these cottons into fabrics. 3) Evaluate these fabrics relative to a set of success criteria. 4) Select cottons with the most interesting behavior for in-depth structure analysis.
