CDM Construction is 'building back better' 50 schools and 15 healthcare facilities in the first year of the reconstruction program. It will furnish and equip primary healthcare facilities and local hospitals, and primary, middle and high schools through construction techniques that meet internationally recognized earthquake resistant building standards, including providing access for the handicapped. www.cdm.com
International Rescue Committee (IRC) is working with health officials and citizens through the Primary Healthcare Revitalization Integration and Decentralization in Earthquake-affected areas (PRIDE) project to integrate, improve and expand the network of health services for residents of the earthquake-affected areas. www.theirc.org
American Institutes for Research (AIR) is working, through the Revitalizing, Innovating and Strengthening Education (RISE) project, to improve the quality of classroom instruction in the earthquake areas. www.air.org
CNFA Inc. is working, through the Improving Livelihoods and Enterprise Development (I-Led) project to recover and expand the economy of the earthquake-affected areas through activities aimed at households, industries and markets. It is assisting remote farmers and herders as they re-establish and expand crop systems, restore and care for livestock, reconstruct animal shelters, repair water systems, and restore orchards, leading to better income opportunities. It is also revitalizing local trade and industry by improving access to finance, re-establishing markets, and expanding trading opportunities. www.cnfa.org
