Student By Student, Class By Class, And School By School
James Price recently became the Superintendent of Public Schools for the Vicksburg Warren School District in Mississippi. As reported in The Vicksburg Post, here's what he had to say during a recent meeting with community leaders:
"I do not anticipate our being comfortable with our test scores. We are, however, anxiously awaiting the results so that we can focus our efforts on the areas in need of attention, student by student, class by class and school by school. After all, the purpose for evaluation is to use the results for improvement."The complete text of The Vicksburg Post article can be found at: http://www.vicksburgpost.com/articles/2003/07/31/export6753.txt
"We are not in fear of these assessments and accountability standards. We will use them as a tool to reach our ultimate goal, which surpasses the state and federal mandates."
