Youth Fund Program to Expand to New Regions
The Azerbaijan Youth Fund Program will expand to six new regions of the country—Bilasuvar, Davachi, Zagatala, Barda, and Mengachevir city—thanks to increased assistance for the Eurasia Partnership Foundation from the Foreign Commonwealth Officer of the United Kingdom. A unique leadership initiative, the Youth Fund is comprised of youth-led grantmaking committees responsible for disbursing financial resources to youth projects in targeted regions. The Youth Fund also receives support from USAID, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Baku-based Garadagh Cement OJSC.
Expansion activities will include a certification program to prepare current program participants to serve as trainers and mentors to new grant committees and the organization of a formal steering council. Broadening implementation of “Training the Trainers” in contemporary youth work is expected to further increase the role of youth in the community life and strengthen the Azerbaijani Youth Fund Network.
Exchange trips between the new youth funds and committee members of existing funds in Guba, Lenkaran, Sheki, Goychay and Ganja, are planned for the coming months.
