The Southern Center for International Studies New President to Succeed Founder
The Southern Center for International Studies has named a new president, Dr. Wayne Lord, to succeed Peter White as president. Mr. White founded the organization in 1962 and is now President Emeritus. He will remain on the Center’s Board of Trustees and retain a number of executive responsibilities, particularly in fundraising as well as acting as an international liaison for the Center.
Mr. White recommended that Dr. Lord succeed him because of his international education and business background and long history of involvement with the organization. During the late 1970s and 1980s, he led seminars on the Soviet Union as Senior Fellow for Russian Studies at the Center and has remained a friend of the Center, making for a seamless leadership transition.
