TITLE: Investigations Data Management System ACRONYM: IDMS ORIGINATOR: Department/Agency Name: U.S. Department of Justice ABSTRACT: IDMS is a database system that tracks the stages of a complaint throughout its lifetime. IDMS captures information about the opening, assignment, and closing of allegations and cases. The OIG has declared IDMS mission critical. PURPOSE: The purpose of IDMS is to capture information about investigative complaints. ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: Access to IDMS is restricted to OIG employees in the Investigations Division and in the Immediate Office of the Inspector General. To provide technical support, access is also provided to those employees within the Information Resources Management Staff who have network administration rights and to a limited number of contractors who have been approved on a case-by-case basis. USE CONSTRAINTS: IDMS contains data which is law enforcement sensitive and use of IDMS is highly restricted. AGENCY PROGRAM: IDMS supports the Agency's investigative mission. SOURCES OF DATA: Data originates from sources both internal and external to the OIG. RESPONSIBLE OFFICE FOR DISTRIBUTING INFORMATION
