The Molecular Biology laboratory at the Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center conducts research on the biology, genetics and molecular mechanisms of plant tolerance and response to insect, pathogen, cultural, and environmental stresses. Current projects include: factors influencing occurrence of straighthead (see publication data below); varietal response to stackburn; genetic basis of cold-sprouting; influence of poultry litter on plant growth; and non-destructive methods for carotenoid measurement.

Poultry litter induces more tillering than what can be explained based on its effect as a fertilizer |
Cultivars of rice display postharvest yellowing (stackburn) under various laboratory conditions |
