Streamflow Records Bite the Dust
Streamflows recorded at U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) gaging stations across the state during water year 2002 (October 1, 2001 through September 30, 2002) provide additional evidence into the severity of Wyoming’s drought.
"Thirty-three percent of stations that have at least 10 years of data set all-time record lows. Most of the stations setting new record lows were in the southern half of the state in the North Platte and lower Green River Basins," said USGS hydrologist Bob Swanson.
The USGS recently published its Annual Data Report summarizing all of the streamflow, ground water levels, and water quality data collected by the agency in Wyoming during water year 2002. The report can be accessed at http://wy.water.usgs.gov/pubs/adr/index.htm.
