CSWQRU scientists conduct research primarily in the Goodwater Creek Research Watershed, a 27 square mile watershed near Centralia, at the University of Missouri Delta Center in Portageville, and on land farmed by many farmer cooperators.

CSWQRU is located on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri and collaborates with the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR).  CSWQRU scientists are affiliated with CAFNR departments Biological Engineering, Plant Sciences, and Soil, Environmental and Atmospheric Sciences (SEAS).
