2009 Region 5 GAP Conference, March 23-26 2009, Chicago
The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation recently issued a new publication, Consultation with Indian Tribes in the Section 106 Process: A Handbook (PDF) (36pp, 248K) November 2008. It is a guide to the federal responsibility for tribal consultation in the National Historic Preservation Act - Section 106 review process.
The Region 5 Indian Environmental Office (IEO) works with the 35 Federally recognized Indian tribal governments in the Midwest Region to implement the Agency's 1984 EPA Indian Policy (PDF) (4pp, 213K About PDF ) and to protect the ecosystems, human health, and cultural resources of Indian country.
