Abstract: The 62 annotated abstracts focus on four major facets of affordable housing: streamlining processing procedures and deregulation, site development and planning, cost - saving technology, and general costs. The documents date from 1974 to 1982. The most recent documents highlight hidden housing costs and discuss ways of treating zoning and land use regulations, permit processing, and environmental and building codes so that they will protect home buyers' safety, health, and finances. Many documents address ways houses can be designed, built, and sited for maximum comfort and minimum cost. Energy - efficient architecture, value engineering, and cluster development are some examples. In addition, new forms of mortgages for home buyers and other forms of financial innovation are covered. Ordering and pricing information are included.
