The Council for Public Interest in Anesthesia (CPIA) promotes patient safety through consumer education and practitioner risk reduction strategies. CPIA Executive Director Sandra E. Gaynor, RN, PhD serves as the primary staff responsible for all the CPIA activities and as Director of the AANA Wellness Program which includes the AANA Peer Assistance advocacy.
