Oct 2007 -- Vicksburg, Miss. -- The Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology has announced that the ERDC was selected as the 2007 Army Large Research Laboratory of the Year. This is the third time in six years, since the beginning of the Global War on Terror (GWOT), that ERDC has won the prestigious honor as the Army’s top research laboratory.
“ERDC is indeed honored to be recognized by the Army’s senior leaders as the ‘best of the best’ in Army research for another year,” said Dr. James Houston, ERDC director. “ERDC’s mission is to support our Armed Forces and the nation to make the world safer and better. We think we do a great job, and this award is proof that others do too.”
ERDC has now won the award for nine of the last 18 years, establishing an envious history of excellence in Army research. “When Dr. Killion (Dr. Thomas Killion, Deputy Assistant Army Secretary for Research and Technology) called to tell me ERDC had won, he said, ‘ERDC is making this a habit!’ It’s a great habit to have,” Houston said.
