Call For Workshops

The 2008 meeting will again feature two sessions of Skill-Based Workshops, each session will be one and a half hours in length. Skill-Based Workshops allow for interactive learning around a specific topic. The emphasis will be on skills development as opposed to dissemination of information in a lecture format. We are also interested in any topics which relate to clinical practice, education, or research in any field related to substance abuse, as well as workshops emphasizing community action. The most effective workshops provide participants with the chance to practice a concrete skill which they can then introduce into their teaching, practice or community activity following the meeting.

Workshops can either be submitted electronically to www.amersa.org or by completing this form and mailing with ten blinded copies to the AMERSA National Office. All applicants will be notified of our decision by August 1st. Special recognition will be given for the Best Workshop. The Workshop winner will receive an award and free conference registration for the 2009 conference. Please feel free to email the Workshop Chair, Celeste Wilson, MD at celeste.wilson@childrens.harvard.edu if you have any questions
