Ruth Fox Endowment

Ruth Fox, M.D., 1895-1989
Founder of the American Society of Addiction Medicine

On the 35th Anniversary of the founding of the Society, and in memory of its founding President, Ruth Fox, M.D., the Ruth Fox Memorial Endowment Fund was established.

The Endowment will enable the Society to carry forward activities aimed at achieving its mission: Specialty Board Certification, physician education, research, access to quality treatment for all who suffer from the diseases of addiction, and adequate medical insurance coverage for all.

The Endowment Campaign was launched at ASAM's Annual Meeting, April 28, 1990 in Phoenix, AZ with a goal of $1 million dollars. In March 1992, the Endowment successfully achieved its $1 million dollar goal. In April 1992, The Board of Directors voted to continue the Endowment Campaign.

In the year December, 2006, we have reached $4.0 Million in pledges.
