The Caribbean Basin and Hispanic Addiction Technology Transfer Center (CBHATTC) is a program under the Institute of Research, Education, and Services in Addiction (IRESA), Department of Family Medicine and Community Health of the Universidad Central del Caribe, School of Medicine in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. This is the first initiative in Puerto Rico to encourage formal education and scientific knowledge in the substance abuse field. It is also the first to design, implement, and achieve accreditation of a Spanish language graduate program in substance abuse. Through consulting services, establishing methods to enhance the evaluation process, and technical support, the center aids in the organizational development of drug treatment provider entities. The CBHATTC diffuses and facilitate the transfer of latest research information in the substance abuse field to service providers in order to enhance treatment services in Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and the Hispanic/Latino community in the United States.
Our focus is to blend science and services in Hispanic and West Indies culturally appropriate educational activities and products.
