Law Enforcement Information Sharing Program

Guiding Principles, Policies, Standards

Guiding principles drive policies that represent the backbone of the LEISP strategy for achieving the Department's information sharing vision and commitments. The first three principles and policies compose the core of what the Department is terming “OneDOJ”, the Department's internal initiative to make information sharing a priority. This is a prerequisite to partnering with law enforcement agencies outside the department. The remainder of the principles and policies focus on protecting privacy and establishing an environment of partnership and trust that will be critical to the creation of a national information sharing capability.

  • All DOJ Components Will Share Information as Standard Operating Procedure

  • DOJ Will Present All Department Components as a Single Information Sharing Entity

  • DOJ Will Protect Privacy and Ensure Security in Implementing LEISP

  • DOJ and Its Partners Will Establish Trust Through Organizational Accountability

  • DOJ Will Participate in Local and Regional Sharing Initiatives
