Research Areas

EPA scientists are leading a world-wide effort to advance understanding of the issues surrounding endocrine disrupting chemicals. The goals of EPA's endocrine disruptors research is to identify chemicals which pose an unreasonable risk, to prevent or reduce the release of these chemicals into the environment, and to develop improved or new methods to remediate the environmental presence of these chemicals.

EPA's research concerning the biological effects of EDCs is concentrated in the following areas:
Methods Development and Chemical Screening
Wildlife and Extrapolation Studies
Low-Dose Studies and Effects of Multiple EDCs

EPA's research into the health effects of EDCs is conducted in collaboration with and in support of EPA's Office of Science Coordination and Policy (OSCP) within the Office of Prevention, Pesticides, and Toxic Substances (OPPTS).
