Conservation Partnerships Branch

Conserve, enhance, and protect Federal trust species and their habitats in New Mexico by forming and/or maintaining partnerships with other Federal, State, and local agencies, Tribes, academia, non-governmental organizations, industry, and private landowners, which facilitate the restoration, improvement, and/or protection of fish and wildlife habitats.

These partnerships will strategically focus funding and technical assistance on watersheds or ecosystems to effect landscape-scale habitat improvements for Federal trust species.

Primary activities are to:

• Administer the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program in New Mexico,
• deliver the Private Stewardship Grant Program in New Mexico,
• employ Endangered Species Act Section 10 tools (e.g. Safe Harbor Agreements, Candidate Conservation Agreements with Assurances, Habitat Conservation Plans) on non-Federal lands to promote recovery of federally-listed endangered, threatened, and candidate species, and
• provide a single point of contact for the NMESFO as tribal liaison to all New Mexico Tribes.
