Things To Know Before You Come
 

Here are some things one might need to know before visiting the park.  Please look at the other provided links (above) for additional information.

BIRTHPLACE UNIT

  • The park is located in the Eastern Time Zone
  • Sturdy footwear is recommended for hiking the trails
  • No public telephone is located within the park
  • For preservation of park resources, no indoor flash photography is permitted
  • Groups must call for reservations
  • Call for park closures due to inclement weather
  • Call for seasonal changes in hours of operation
  • Mosquitoes, ticks, and poison ivy are common from mid-spring through mid-fall
  • Climate: Summers are hot and humid. Winters are moderately cold with mixed precipitation. Layers of clothing are recommended for fall and winter
  • Tours are self-guided
  • Allow one hour to visit the park

BOYHOOD HOME UNIT AT KNOB CREEK

  • The park is located in the Eastern Time Zone

  • Exterior visit only; currently the buildings are closed but have been stabilized

Over 120,000 people donated around $350,000 to the Lincoln Farm Association to help build the Memorial Building and for the development of the birthplace site. These funds were obtained by popular subscription from citizens of the north and south, businesses, banks, and especially school children.
