2. Does USAID/DR provide scholarships?

USAID does not provide scholarships directly. However, if you need further information, please contact the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Santo Domingo. They have several scholarship programs such as Humphrey and Fulbright for masters and doctorates.

We also work with the Cooperative Association of States for Scholarships (CASS). This program is sponsored by Georgetown University, and it benefits low-income and outstanding undergraduate students.

3. How can I register an NGO/PVO with USAID?

The Office of Private and Voluntary Cooperation (PVC) in Washington, D.C., handles USAID registration for all NGO/PVOs based in the United States and handles registration policy for all NGO/PVOs worldwide. It is USAID's policy that none of the funds appropriated under the U.S. Foreign Assistance Act may be made available to any NGO/PVO that is not registered with USAID. Disaster assistance funding and funding through subgrants or contracts are not subject to this requirement.

5. How does USAID channel donations?

USAID/DR does not usually provide grants to individuals or specific organizations. Rather, USAID/DR channels grants and donations through its Strategic Objective Agreements with GODR (SOAG). These documents are signed by our counterparts in the Technical Secretariat of the Presidency. Afterwards, USAID/DR awards grants and contracts to cooperative partners who, in turn, work to achieve sustainable results in the areas of economic opportunities, health, and democracy and governance.
