USAID strongly supports global health activities through a variety of programs in many countries. From 1985 to 2000, USAID provided approximately $13.8 billion in global health assistance to developing countries, making it the largest international donor in this sector in the world. In FY 2004, estimated funding for the sector totaled $2.3 billion.
