- Equipment purchased through MERC projects is used for further research after MERC funding is complete.
- Technologies developed by MERC projects have been implemented throughout the Middle East (see success stories).
- Each MERC project must include a plan to involve the appropriate beneficiaries.
- Seminars, workshops and community meetings are common to MERC projects.
- People trained through MERC projects increase the knowledge base in their communities.
- Research topics funded by MERC must be proved regionally important.
