WASHINGTON, DC -- Dr. Kent R. Hill, USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, met with Kosovo Prime Minister Dr. Bajram Rexhepi and Minister of Economy and Finance Ali Sadriu on Wednesday at the USAID headquarters in Washington.

During the meeting, Dr. Hill and the Prime Minister discussed areas of mutual interest including trade issues, the upcoming municipal elections in Kosovo scheduled for October 26, and the Kosovo Donors’ Conference to be held in Brussels on November 5. Prime Minister Rexhepi also expressed his gratitude to USAID for the support it has provided in assisting the government in building capacity and assuming responsibility for governance and management.

“Discussions with Prime Minister Rexhepi and Minister of Finance and Economy Sadriu were warm and substantive. USAID technical assistance is clearly effective and appreciated,” said Dr. Hill after the meeting. “Our commitment to continued efforts to help Kosovo during these months of transition remains strong.”

USAID’s assistance to Kosovo this year totaled nearly $50 million and focuses on programs to promote private enterprise growth and the transition to democracy.
