Run for Recovery-SAMHSA Sponsored
Description
Utah Alcoholism Foundation's (UAF) 2nd Annual "Run for Recovery" 5k race will be held Sat 9/9/06 at 8:30am (day of registration and check-in at 7:30am) beginning on the east side of the Utah State Capitol, through Memory Grove and ending at Salt Lake City's Gallivan Center. Run for Recovery award presentations will be hosted by Frank Layden. Utah's Recovery Day from 9am to 1pm celebrates addiction recovery, and encourages people to overcome barriers to recovery. Recovery Day speakers may include City, County and Utah State government officials. Recovery Day activities include face painting, games, live music, food and a rock-climbing wall. Utah's Recovery Day is sponsored by the State and Salt Lake County Division of Substance Abuse. Proceeds from the race will benefit Utah Alcoholism Foundation's (UAF) substance abuse treatment programs. Pre-registration is $20 and includes a t-shirt; day of registration is $25.

There will be free activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gallivan Center including a jumping castle, childrens activities, games, live music, free food and a free raffle with many great prizes. Description
Volunteers of America, Utah will celebrate the first annual Bowling for Recovery a fundraising bowling event, celebrated in conjunction with National Alcohol and Drug Recovery month, designed to celebrate sobriety and to raise money to serve individuals in need of substance abuse services.Registration is 11:30am with bowling from 12-2:00pm. Participants should collect $100 minimum in pledges and can expect bowling, pizza, prizes and fun.
