20th Annual Research Conference - A System of Care for Children's Mental Health: Expanding the Research Base
Description
Call for Papers Issued for 20th Annual Research Conference on Children's Mental Health Service Systems

Visit: http://rtckids.fmhi.usf.edu/rtcconference

The Research and Training Center for Children's Mental Health (RTC) is now accepting applications to present at the 20th Annual Research Conference. The national conference, A System of Care for Children's Mental Health: Expanding the Research Base, will be held March 4-7, 2007 at the Tampa Marriott Waterside in Tampa, Florida.

This year we celebrate a special anniversary - for 20 years, the Center has hosted this event to share the latest research on implementing systems of care. Consequently, a national network of researchers, evaluators, administrators, policy makers, planners, advocates, and family members now work in concert to promote the emotional and behavioral well-being of children and their families. Collectively, we can take pride that for 20 years our work has supported important change in practice and policy, and improved the way communities address the mental health needs of children and their families. Our job, however, is far from done.

In the next decades, as a field, we must firmly establish the empirical foundation for building effective systems of care that produce meaningful outcomes in real-world settings. Your work can contribute to this goal.

You are invited to add your knowledge and experience to the research base for systems of care serving children with mental health needs and their families.

The Call for Papers Deadline is October 31, 2006. Instructions and the online application to present symposia, paper presentations, topical discussions, and poster presentations are now available at: http://rtckids.fmhi.usf.edu/rtcconference/presenters/

We are especially interested in proposals addressing research and evaluation related to:

* Service system assessment, development
* Center for Mental Health Services Programs
* Dissemination and implementation
* Policy development and implementation
* Treatment effectiveness
* Effectiveness of partnerships, including those with family members
* Educational outcomes in systems of care
* Effectiveness of child welfare/foster care programs
* Effects of financing methods
* Effects of accountability strategies within systems of care

Important Dates:

* Sept 1, 2006 - Call for Papers Announced
* October 31, 2006 - Deadline for Applications to Present
* December 15, 2006 - Conference Registration Opens
* February 2, 2007 - Deadline for Conference Rates at Marriott
* February 2, 2007 - Deadline for Advance Conference Registration Discount

The annual conference is hosted by the Research and Training Center for Children's Mental Health, University of South Florida, in Tampa, Florida. The Center is jointly funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, U.S Department of Education and the Center for Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration under grant number H133B040024.
