Recovery Month Video Podcasting

We are pleased to offer our viewers an alternative format for previewing trailers of our monthly Webcasts. The trailers will be available as video podcasts, and usually last for about 60 seconds. Viewing these trailers will provide you with a brief overview of the upcoming Webcast of the month.

You will need to sign up as a subscriber to these video podcasts, and they will either be downloaded automatically to your podcasting software, or available for you to download on demand, depending upon how you configure your setup.

Visit the video podcasing help information below to get the answers to some of your questions.

For more podcasts on substance abuse news and public affairs reports, visit SAMHSA's Radio Newsline. These audio spots feature actualities from national recognized experts in the fields of substance abuse prevention and treatment. Broadcast-ready Newsline reports (usually 60 to 90 seconds) can easily be folded into radio news or public affairs programming, or serve as a source of quotes and actualities for your own news coverage.

Duration: about 60 seconds

What do I need to hear podcasts?
The first thing you need is a video podcast subscription software to manage your video podcast subscriptions. After you download the free video podcast subscription software you can view the video podcast from your computer. At present there is only one free option that will play both video and audio (there are options under development):
  • iTunes (bundled with QuickTime Player)
  • Juice - (this software requires the free QuickTime Player or any other software that supports MPEG4 to view the trailers.)
Note: Your computer must have a sound card in order to listen to audio of this video podcast. If you want to make your video podcasts portable, you will need to transfer them from your computer to a portable media device that supports both video and audio in MPEG4 format.

How do I subscribe to this podcast?
Copy the URL in the box below into your video podcasting software. After subscribing update the video podcast and you will automatically receive this video podcast each time it's published.

Note: You must copy and paste the above URL into the podcasting software, otherwise if you paste it in your browser's address bar, it will show the raw code and will not work. You must also change the settings of your software to download the new trailers automatically.

I subscribed to a podcast. Why can't I view anything?
  • Confirm that you have software that lets you subscribe to video podcasts and you can view MPEG4 format video files on your computer.
  • Check that the correct audio/video file was downloaded to your computer. You may need to modify the update settings in your video podcasting software to ensure that this process occurs automatically.
  • Check the update times in the description and make sure that a new edition has been posted.

  • Help Using Juice
