Iftar 2005 Hosted by Administrator Andrew S. Natsios

Administrator Andrew S. Natsios hosted the third USAID annual Iftar on Thursday October 20, 2005, at the USAID headquarters in Washington, D.C. in observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan. Several members of the diplomatic community, the Middle Eastern American non-profit organizations, as well as leaders in the Muslim American community attended this special evening with the Administrator and officials from USAID and the Department of State.

Imam Husahm Al-Husainy of the Karbal Center in Detroit announced the breaking of the fast and spoke of peace and co-existence. Administrator Natsios welcomed all the guests, addressing the participants with the meaning of Ramadan and why fasting is practiced in all religions. Assistant Administrator Ed Fox of the Bureau of Legislative and Public affairs was the master of ceremonies.
